Johann Georg Friedrich von Einsiedel , from 1745 Count von Einsiedel (born December 18, 1730 in Dresden , † June 21, 1811 in Reibersdorf ) was a Saxon statesman.

origin

His parents were the First Court Marshal Johann George von Einsiedel from the Saxon noble family Einsiedel , who had been raised to the rank of count in 1745, and Countess Eva Charlotte Friederike von Flemming . His brother Detlev Carl was also a minister.

Life

After attending school in Leipzig, he entered the state service at an early age. Initially active as a diplomat in Saint Petersburg from 1748 , Einsiedel was appointed Saxon ambassador to the English court in London in 1763 .

When Friedrich Christian took over government , Einsiedel was appointed Cabinet Minister and State Secretary for Internal Affairs in 1763. After the elector's death, he fell out with the administrator Xaver , whose ideas about increasing the strength of the army he did not support. In 1766, Xavier dismissed him from office. His successor was Leopold Nicolaus von Ende as Cabinet Minister .

Einsiedel withdrew to his rulership of Seidenberg - Reibersdorf and built it and the Milkel rulership, which he married in 1767, into model businesses for the modernization of agriculture in Saxony, which he advocated .

In 1777 he left his half of the Saathain rule to his brother, Count Delev von Einsiedel .

From 1782 he belonged to the Moravian Brethren .

family

He married Eleonore Henriette von Ponickau (1733–1806) in Bautzen in 1766, widow of the Saxon Minister Count Nicolaus Willibald von Gersdorff (1713–1765) and daughter of the Saxon district councilor Johann Adolph von Ponickau . The couple had two sons and a daughter, including:

  • Georg (1767–1840), Saxon Real Privy Councilor and envoy in Petersburg

Remarks

  1. On the date of Einsiedel's death, the more recent literature (article in the Neue Deutsche Biographie or in the Deutsche Biographische Enzyklopädie ) gives the different information on July 21st , which is based on an error. In the older literature, June 21st is given as the date of death, see e.g. B. "Wochenblatt für die Lausitz and Cottbusser Kreis", issue 60 of October 5, 1811 or the article in the Allgemeine Deutsche Biographie . On the basis of a court certificate from the preacher Johann David Heinrich from Reibersdorf dated October 1, 1811, the older date of death is confirmed.
