Detlev Carl von Einsiedel
Detlev Carl Graf von Einsiedel (born August 27, 1737 in Dresden , † December 17, 1810 in Mückenberg ) was a Saxon cabinet minister and company founder.
Company founder
Detlev Carl came from the Saxon noble family Einsiedel . In the period from 1764 to 1775 he was District Chief of the Leipzig circle . In 1779 he bought the Gröditzer mill and replaced it with a new company: " Iron and tooth hammer with a fresh fire ". This rod hut (teeth corresponded to rod, wire) was henceforth one of the branches of the parent company Lauchhammer, founded in 1725 by Einsiedel's godmother Benedicta Margareta von Löwendal , and is considered to be the founding of the steelworks in Gröditz . Gröditz (near Riesa ) thus developed into a location for the German iron and steel industry.
Between 1760 and 1810 he made significant structural changes to Wolkenburg Castle . During this time, the castle park was redesigned in the English style and several Lauchhammer iron art cast sculptures were placed in the park.
Detlev Carl von Einsiedel was President of the Leipzig Economic Society from 1777 until his death .
