The Lessing-Gymnasium is a high school in the Cologne district of Zündorf . It is named after the poet Gotthold Ephraim Lessing and is particularly notable for its bilingual orientation.

history

The grammar school was founded in 1972 as a municipal grammar school (founding director Albert Fuest, born February 9, 1929– December 16, 2016). It stands together with a secondary and secondary school as a school center on one property. All three types of school use the gyms and science rooms together; also the forum as a meeting room.

The Lessing-Gymnasium is a five-class high school. The school profile is characterized by a bilingual German-English branch as well as the offer of an international school leaving certificate ( International Baccalaureate Diploma ) in addition to the Abitur.

In secondary level I , the Lessing-Gymnasium offers specialist profile classes with a focus on the natural sciences, social sciences or language, as well as an international side entry class. In the upper secondary level, students can choose from a wide range of subjects.

For years there have been student exchanges with various schools at home and abroad, including schools from Ireland , the USA , France and Italy .

The Lessing-Gymnasium is IB World School, school of the future (Agenda 21) and school without racism, school with courage .

The school has been supporting a school in Lougourougoumbou in Mali with the project "Sun for Mali" since 1994 - also at the urging of the students . As part of this project, the school won the “Energy Saving Master” competition.
