The Buchheim school center is a state-recognized grammar school and secondary school in Cologne-Buchheim . The carrier is the Bildung und Perspektiven gGmbH.
history
The Dialog Gymnasium was founded on August 6, 2007 after the Cologne District Government had granted approval in May to operate a state-recognized two-tier Gymnasium in Cologne. Children from eight nations are currently going to school; However, one would like to achieve that the classes consist of 50% German children and 50% children with a migration background. The substitute school is financed, among other things, by the substitute school financing ordinance of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. In North Rhine-Westphalia, substitute schools regularly receive a state grant of 85% of the costs of a comparable state school.
Originally this school was called the private high school Dialog . In order to take away the elitist look, a new name was chosen in 2009. In addition, the organization changed during this time, it was originally the Turkish-German Academic Association , today it is Education & Perspectives . There is no information whatsoever about this carrier, although this has been announced on the website for years. In 2012, the company moved to a new building on Arnsberger Platz, which, in addition to the grammar school, also includes a secondary school.
Another renaming took place in 2017. Gymnasium and Realschule should be more clearly separated from each other by renaming. The name "Buchheim School Center" was chosen. This is divided into the Ferdinand Franz Wallraf Gymnasium and the Werner Heisenberg Realschule.
School profile
Fifth graders start with two foreign languages at school; English and French or Turkish. The language of instruction is German. Since August 2009, the grammar school has also been a recognized all-day school with daily lunch for all children and teachers. The school program includes additional afternoon offers such as “learning to learn” as well as learning time and project work in various areas and individual support groups. However, these were abolished in 2013/2014.
Awards
Despite its short history, the school has already received the European Medal of the European People's Party and can boast numerous participations and awards in nationwide competitions and projects.
The school also received an award for being a "school of the future" in terms of educational support for students with projects such as learning time or learning to learn.
