The 2001/02 season was the eleventh season of the Latvian Ice Hockey League , the highest Latvian ice hockey league . Master was for the second time in the history of the HK Liepājas Metalurgs .

In the main round, the six teams played 20 games each. All six teams qualified for the playoffs in which the champions were played, with the first two of the main round qualified directly for the playoff semifinals. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
