Küppersteg
Küppersteg is a district of Leverkusen .

In the east of Küppersteg, the federal motorway 1 and the Gruiten – Cologne – Mülheim railway line form the border with Quettingen . To the south of Küppersteg lie the Dhünn and the Wiesdorf district , and in the west the Cologne – Duisburg railway forms the border with Bürrig . To the northeast is the Opladen district .
history
In 1157, Küppersteg was first mentioned as a footbridge over the Dhünn near Bürrig . In the Middle Ages, the place belonged to the Miselohe office in the Duchy of Berg. Later he was part of the Grand Duchy of Berg. 1815 came Küppersteg to the Kingdom of Prussia and the District Opladen in the administrative district of Dusseldorf , but already in 1819 the county Solingen . In 1845 Küppersteg received a station on the newly built Cöln-Mindener Railway . On August 31, 1889, Wiesdorf and Bürrig formed the joint mayor's office Küppersteg and at the same time left the mayor association with Opladen. When the communities of Bürrig and Wiesdorf merged on April 1, 1920, Küppersteg became part of the new city of Wiesdorf.
In 1928 the Christ the King Church was built. Küppersteg has been a district of Leverkusen since 1930, and in District II since January 1, 1975.
Küppersteg has been divided into two parts since the 1970s. The four-lane European ring divides the district into east and west. There are plans to change this situation and put a lid on the road.
