The Lexus LC is a sports car from the Japanese premium Toyota brand Lexus .
history
The LF-LC concept vehicle , which was presented at the NAIAS in January 2012 , provided a first look at the 2 + 2-seater . The production version made its debut four years later in Detroit as the LC 500 . This takes over the 351 kW (477 PS) five- liter V8 petrol engine from the RC F and GS F and will be the first series vehicle in the world to use a 10-speed automatic transmission . In contrast to the RC and GS, the five-liter gasoline engine is not the top model in the series, instead a new V8 biturbo engine in the LC F is expected to generate around 450 kW. At the Geneva Motor Show 2016 Lexus presented the LC 500h with a 264 kW (359 PS) hybrid drive . Both variants have been sold since June 2017 at prices starting at 99,200 euros.
At the NAIAS in January 2019, Lexus presented an open version of the LC as a concept vehicle. The production version debuted at the LA Auto Show in November 2019 .
In April 2020 Lexus presented a slightly revised version of the LC.

Motorsport
In the Japanese Super GT racing series, the Lexus LC replaced the Lexus RC F GT500 for the 2017 season . In the debut season, the Lexus Team KeePer Tom's won the championship title in the team and driver standings with the LC 500. In addition, places 3 to 6 in the team ranking were also occupied by Lexus teams. 2019 is considered to be the last year in service for the LC 500 GT500 before it is replaced by the Toyota GR Supra .
Lexus Gazoo Racing announced in January 2018 that an LC 500 will be launched in races on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife as part of VLN and 24-hour races. The vehicle is intended to provide valuable information for series production. Particular attention was paid to the areas of aerodynamics, weight reduction with increased torsional stiffness, fuel efficiency and the testing of new assistance systems. The extensively adapted vehicle was built according to the regulations of the SP-Pro class.
As a test for the 24h race, the Lexus LC 500 took part in races for the VLN. In the 24h race, the team was able to qualify for starting position 32. At the end of the race distance, the drivers Takeshi Tsuchiya, Takamitsu Matsui, Naoya Gamo and Yuichi Nakayama were only listed as 96th out of 106 participants. The cause was technical problems and a collision with another participant right at the start of the race.
