License To Confus is the first album by the band Sharon Stoned from Detmold in North Rhine-Westphalia . It was released in 1994. The formation around the two musicians Christopher Uhe and Mark Kowarsch was a revival of the band Speed Niggs , which had split up two years earlier.

classification

The release of License To Confuse marks a particularly creative phase of the musician Christopher Uhe around 1994. Besides Sharon Stoned, he played in the band Great Tuna and was part of the duo Locust Fudge. Sharon Stoned was a revival of the Speed Niggs trio that broke up two years earlier. Critics have also called License To Confuse "the best Speed Niggs album ever" . The hit-oriented opener Superkind stands for catchy guitar-oriented indie rock , which is strongly based on American bands like Dinosaur Jr. or the Lemonheads . Other songs are experimental, intentionally orchestrated sparingly and recorded in hotel rooms or kitchens.

The numerous guest musicians are striking: Kowarsch and Uhe waited six hours in front of a Berlin hotel room to record the song Some with Lou Barlow . Evan Dando of the Lemonheads can be heard on Special Plan , members of The Notwist on One dark Love Poem and To a Friend .

Trivia

License To Confuse was named after a song by the band Sebadoh ; the opening track of the album Bakesale . Sebadoh is a band led by ex-Dinosaur Jr. bassist Lou Barlow, who can be heard as a guest musician on License To Confuse.
