Lichtenau is the partner village of the Biberau district of Schleusegrund in the Hildburghausen district in Thuringia .

location

Lichtenau

Lichtenau is located at the lock, just above the confluence of the Biberbach on the eastern bank. The district road K 523, also known as Bibergrundstraße , leads eastwards upstream to the districts of Engestein, Biberschlag, Tellerhammer and on to Schnett.

history

The village was first mentioned in a document in 1595/96. The place name is explained as a (once conspicuous) clearing in the alluvial forest of the lock.
