John Kevin Cogan (born March 31, 1956 in Culver City , California ) is a retired American racing car driver . He was active in the Indy Car World Series from 1981 to 1991 and 1993 .

Career

Cogan was active in the Indy Car World Series from 1981 to 1991 and 1993 . He started 116 races. His best finish was a victory at the Dana 200 for Special Olympics in 1986 at the Phoenix International Raceway . In total, he was on the podium seven times. His best overall placements were the sixth position he reached in 1982 and 1986. He achieved his best result at the Indianapolis 500 in 1986 with a second place.

In addition, Cogan tried twice to qualify for a Formula 1 Grand Prix. However, he failed to qualify both times.
