Steinbach can be reached via the county road 519. The village lies on a higher level of the Thuringian Forest and is the highest part of the municipality.

history

Until 1815, the place belonged to the Henneberg or Electoral Saxon office Schleusingen and then came to the Schleusingen district of the newly formed Prussian province of Saxony , where it remained until 1945. The natural stage for the holiday region was built between 1955 and 1957 as the natural theater "German-Soviet Friendship".
