history
Oberneubrunn was first mentioned in a document on July 17, 1332. The place belonged to the office Eisfeld , which from 1826 belonged to the Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen .
Oberneubrunn was persecuted by witches from 1612 to 1666 . A woman and a man got into witch trials ; In 1612 Thomas Reuter from Oberneubrunn was hanged.
The geographer Johann Georg Martin Brückner was born here on October 31, 1800.
On July 1, 1950, the previous communities of Gabel , Oberneubrunn, Schönau and Unterneubrunn were merged to form the new community of Schönbrunn . This has belonged to the Schleusegrund community since 1994.
