action

The existence that the young, attractive Leila ekes out in a suburb of Toronto consists of masturbation, parties, drugs and sexual adventures. In this way, Leila suppresses the worries of everyday life and the relationship problems of her parents, who are planning to get a divorce. Leila's mother Marla has decided to leave father Ben.

After watching pornography and masturbating to it, Leila makes her way into town and goes to a party there. There is also the young David, to whom Leila immediately feels drawn. Outside the club, Leila has sex with a stranger and is watched by David, who persuades his friend Rachel, who is also present, to have sex in the car, but always keeps eye contact with Leila.

The next day, Leila and David happen to meet on the street, where David is chasing Leila into a nearby park. Protected by a crawl tunnel, Leila begins to undress in front of David and masturbate in the process. To their surprise, the initially banned David suddenly withdraws and disappears without a trace. The next time Leila meets David, he leads her into his apartment and the two have sex. Although she has never been in a committed relationship before, Leila gives a relationship with David a chance. For the first time she falls in love with someone and is not bothered by the angry Rachel, who appears shortly afterwards at her work and Leila explains that David does not need a wife, but a mother.

David also loves Leila. But the two quickly reach their limits. The first tensions arise between the couple when Leila falls back into her old behavior after an evening together in the club and dances suggestively with several men in front of David. He reacts jealously and angry, but initially says nothing. Back in his apartment, David confronts Leila sharply with her promiscuity and the two have anal intercourse, with David Leila confessing that he can only think of her and makes her promise never to leave him.

Shortly afterwards, David's father in need of care, whom the young man has lovingly looked after, dies. David is devastated. Leila, overwhelmed with her and David's feelings, steals away that night. When she returns to David drunk the next evening and wants to sleep with him, the two of them quarrel and David ends the relationship. Frustrated, he turns back to his ex-girlfriend Rachel.

Leila falls into a deep hole of despair and seeks distraction again from men with whom she has spontaneous sex. So she meets the shy young man again, whom she seduced the night she met David, and takes him back to her apartment. When she realizes that she is no longer finding any satisfaction, she throws him out of her apartment in anger. Leila also no longer achieves salvation through masturbation. She realizes that she doesn't want any other man but David.

Meanwhile, the conflict between her parents intensifies. Ben uses drugs and refuses to move out of the house, while Marla has already packed her things and is looking for a new apartment. Leila promises her desolate father to visit him as often as possible and stresses to him that it is "not so bad to be alone".

When Leila's best friend Victoria, who - although she has been cheating on her fiancé with her ex-boyfriend for some time - celebrates her wedding, she rides her bike past the park near her apartment where she once piloted David. He is now sitting on a park bench and immediately recognizes Leila. He follows her, but is too late to see Leila in front of the synagogue. Victoria asks David out of hand if he wants to come with me, which he does. At the party that followed, he and Leila dance together and it becomes clear that David regrets having ended the relationship and wants Leila back. Overwhelmed by her feelings and afraid of being hurt again, Leila runs away. As at the beginning of the storyline, David runs after her and follows Leila to her apartment. He swears to Leila, who is holed up behind the bathroom door, not to leave her again, and the two make up.

Reviews

Leslie Felperin wrote in Variety magazine on October 12, 2005 that low-budget films were tending towards hardcore . Its third part drag itself along, the end is sentimental. The film is far from The Last Tango in Paris ; the newer film 9 Songs offers more "brutal honesty" , while Under the Skin better understands the psychology of promiscuous women.

The lexicon of international films wrote that the film was "an unromantic erotic drama" . He comes "visually revealing," but doesn't understand how to "explore the characters and their feelings more deeply" .

The magazine Cinema wrote that the film was a "make more striking, rather clumsy attempt a superficial relationship drama narrated by hardcore scenes interesting" .
