Parish Church of Our Lady

The Catholic parish church of Liebfrauen is a listed church building in Bocholt in the Borken district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

History and architecture

The former Minorite Church is a simple brick hall built between 1786 and 1792 with a retracted choir and a 3/8 end. In 1912/1913, Wilhelm Sunder-Plassmann added a large wall pillar hall with a tower to the north. The church burned down completely in 1945 and was restored until 1955. The windows were made by Joachim Klos from 1969 to 1976 .

Furnishing

  • The high altar with grapevines is from the end of the 17th century.
  • The altar painting depicting the Immaculate was probably painted in the middle of the 18th century by Johann Anton Kappers based on an engraving by Sebastiano Conca .
  • The pulpit was taken over from the Marienkirche in Warendorf .

organ

The organ was built in 1979 by the organ building workshop Johannes Klais in Bonn based on a plan by Hans Gerd Klais and Heinrich Stockhorst (cathedral organist in Münster). The slider chest instrument has 38  registers (2,536  pipes ) on three manuals and a pedal . The game contractures and 6 times the combination system are mechanically, the Registertrakturen are electric.
