Lili Fischer (* 11. June 1947 on the Priwall in Travemünde ) is a German artist , art educator and emeritus professor . Her artistic expressions include drawing , photography , performance and object art . She transferred the concept of field research to the field of art in the 1970s .

Life

Lili Fischer was born as the daughter of a graduate engineer and grew up in her place of birth, the Lübeck district of Travemünde, and in Hamburg . In 1966 she graduated from high school, after which she studied art until 1973 at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts (HfbK Hamburg) with Professors Dietrich Helms , Gotthard Graubner and Franz Erhard Walther . In 1973 she passed her exams as an art teacher . This was followed by a study of art history , ethnology and education at the University of Hamburg , where she dealt with the animation rituals of so-called primitive peoples. In 1978 she did her doctorate at the University of Hamburg in the field of ethnology with a thesis on animation ("Beseelung"). In the same year she adopted the term “field research” for the first time in the field of art.

Since 1980 she has been teaching at various universities and academies. In 1984 she took part in the group exhibition From Here - Two Months of New German Art in Düsseldorf and in 1987 in documenta 8 in Kassel .

From 1994 to 2013, Fischer was professor for performance / field research at the Art Academy in Münster . She lives and works in Hamburg .
