The Lincoln LS was an upper mid-range sedan with a sporty twist and produced by the US automobile manufacturer Lincoln from 1999 to 2006.
The Lincoln LS6 (V6 engine) and LS8 (V8 engine) should establish the US prestige brand Lincoln, which belongs to the Ford Group, on the European market and close the gap between the core brand Ford and the luxury brand Jaguar . An introduction in Europe as a successor to the Ford Scorpio was abandoned at the last moment in favor of the Jaguar subsidiary and the almost identical S-Type . The Lincoln LS shares the DEW98 platform with the Jaguar S-Type . The AJ-V8 engine developed by Jaguar is also installed in the LS8 .
The series was offered with the following engines:
1999 to 2002:
LS6: 3.0 liter light alloy V6 engine with 24 valves and 154 kW (210 PS / 278 Nm torque) with manual gearbox or (optional) 5-speed automatic gearbox.
LS8: 3.9 liter light alloy V8 engine with 32 valves and 185 kW (252 hp / 362 Nm torque) with 5-speed automatic transmission
2002 to 2006:
LS6: 3.0 liter light alloy V6 engine with 24 valves and 171 kW (232 hp / 298 Nm torque at 4500 rpm) with 5-speed automatic transmission.
LS8: 3.9-liter V8 engine with 32 valves and 206 kW (280 PS / 388 Nm torque at 4000 rpm) with SelectShift automatic transmission The V8 engine is based on the 4-liter V8 of the AJ series from Jaguar related. In the last model year, however, the V6 engine was no longer available.
At the end of 2002 the LS received a small facelift at the rear.
LS production was ended in May 2006; the Lincoln MKS has been the successor since 2008.
