The Lincoln MKT is a car model from the American car manufacturer Lincoln . As a crossover SUV of the luxury class connects MKT properties of a station wagon (load capacity) and a Vans (variability) with those of a sport utility vehicle. The car, which was produced in Oakville (Ontario) between 2009 and 2019 , is positioned above the MKX and is technically based on the Ford Flex . Since the Lincoln MKT is better equipped than the Flex, it is classified as a Luxury Large Crossover in America and competes with models such as the Audi Q7 , the Mercedes-Benz R-Class or the Buick Enclave .

With the discontinuation of the Lincoln Town Car in August 2011, the MKT replaced the MKT Town Car as an exclusive rental and fleet vehicle.

design

Lincoln MKT Concept

In 2008, Lincoln presented a concept vehicle of the same name at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit . In contrast to the sedans typical of the brand, this is a 5.30 meter long crossover model that, according to Ford, should combine the comfort of a luxury sedan with the space of a van and the performance of a sports car. The large, two-part radiator grille with vertical slats and LED headlights on the front are visually striking. The side view is characterized by chrome-plated 21-inch wheels, a light edge below the window line and the side line rising in the rear third. A wide LED light strip and two chrome-plated tailpipes dominate the rear.

Most of the design elements of the study can also be found in the production model. The biggest change concerns the stern, which now rises more steeply.

Furnishing

The standard equipment of the Lincoln MKT depends on the engine choice; In addition, some options are only available in conjunction with the EcoBoost engine. The exterior equipment basically includes 19-inch alloy wheels, adaptive xenon headlights with cornering lights , a rain sensor and an electrically operated tailgate. Special features are the Easy Fuel refueling system, which closes automatically after refueling without a separate tank cap, and the Vista Roof panoramic glass roof for the first and second row of seats with an electric sun blind, which can optionally also be opened electrically. There are also tinted rear windows and soundproof glass in the front doors. The standard parking aid with reversing camera can be supplemented with an active parking assistant for an extra charge .

In the interior, the MKT has seven leather seats in three rows and a trunk volume of 507 to 2149 liters. The front seats and the foldable three-seater bench in the second row have heating as standard, and the driver and front passenger seats can also be air-conditioned and electrically adjusted. On request, there are two foldable individual seats with air conditioning, electric lumbar support and a full-length center console with a cooling compartment for the second row. Another extra is the electric folding and stowing function of the third row of seats, including the tailgating position. The comfort features also include roller sunblinds, an electrically adjustable steering column and pedals, three-zone automatic air conditioning and footrests for the passengers in the rear. The entertainment system includes a CD / MP3 radio with hard drive, ten loudspeakers and SIRIUS satellite technology as well as a USB connection. Via the multifunction wood leather steering wheel with cruise control is also that can Sync system control which simultaneously Bluetooth - hands-free and voice control for audio devices. The cockpit also has an on-board computer, a garage door opener and a touchscreen display for operating the audio and air conditioning and for displaying the reversing camera and a compass. A THX - 5.1 surround sound system with 600 watts and 14 loudspeakers, a voice-controlled hard drive DVD navigation system or a DVD system with two screens in the front head rests are optionally available.

In addition to an anti-theft alarm system, eight airbags, EBD and a tire pressure control display, the safety equipment also includes an electrochromatic dimming driver's exterior and interior mirror. In addition, the AdvanceTrac system combines the functions of ABS and ESP and extends them with Active Yaw and Roll Stability Control . The so-called SOS Post Crash Alert System also activates the hazard warning lights and the horn after an accident with the airbag or belt tensioner being triggered . There is also a special vehicle access system that consists of several components: the SecuriCode sensor keypad in the B-pillar opens the vehicle after entering the access code or, in conjunction with Intelligent Access , only the driver's door opens when the key is carried and the keypad is touched . A new feature is the MyKey , a programmable vehicle key with an immobilizer that can be used to generate a restricted driving mode. In this, the top speed is limited to 80 mph (approx. 130 km / h) and the performance of the audio system to 44%. In addition, signals sound when the vehicle exceeds 45, 55 or 65 mph (72, 89 or 105 km / h) and the seat belt warning, which is always active, mutes the radio if an occupant is unbuckled. The adaptive cruise control , which is subject to a surcharge, has a collision warning system with brake intervention that warns the driver of an impending rear-end collision via a head-up display and builds up any necessary brake pressure. BLIS with cross traffic warning is also optionally available . The latter registers vehicles driving by when pulling out of parallel parking spaces and warns with a signal tone.

Facelift 2012

Facelift 2012

The MKT will receive a facelift for the 2013 model year . This includes a modified grille and a different front apron. In the interior there is a new instrument display with a central speedometer and two flanking, configurable LC displays as well as a new steering wheel. In addition, the output of the 3.7 l V6 engine has been increased to 220 kW.

In conjunction with the EcoBoost motor, an adaptive chassis with normal, sport and comfort modes is available. This receives data for the optimal setting of the chassis from 46 different sources and can perform 500 calculations per second. The suspension setting can thus be adjusted within eleven milliseconds.

The revised model was presented at the LA Auto Show in November 2011. It was available from spring 2012.

technology

Based on Ford's D3 platform, which the Ford Taurus or Lincoln MKS use, for example , an extended and adapted version called D4 was developed, which is only used in the Ford Flex ( D471 ) and the Lincoln MKT ( D472 ). Two V6 petrol engines in combination with a six-speed automatic transmission with shift paddles are available as engine versions. The 3.7-liter Duratec engine with front or all-wheel drive has an output of 200 kW (272 hp) and is also used in the Mazda CX-9 or the American version of the Mazda6, for example. The 3.5-liter engine of the EcoBoost series introduced in 2009 has all-wheel drive as standard and comes from the Lincoln MKS. Thanks to double turbocharging and direct petrol injection, it generates 265 kW (360 hp). The EcoBoost engines are due to downsizing and bi-turbo , the force of a V8 engine with the consumption and the CO 2 connecting emissions of a six cylinder.
