Lindenhayn is a district of the community Schönwölkau in the district of North Saxony in Saxony . It consists of the places Gollmenz and Lindenhayn.

Lindenhayn is located in the triangle between the cities of Eilenburg , Delitzsch and Bad Düben on Bundesstraße 2 . There are also unclassified local connections to Wölkau , Göritz and Brinnis . The village of Gollmenz, southwest of Lindenhayn, belongs to the district of Lindenhayn. The district is on the leash .

history

Lindenhayn is a street green village in terms of the type of settlement . The place was first mentioned in 1348 as Lindenhoin . The place belonged until 1815 as an exclave in the office Delitzsch to the electoral office Bitterfeld . Today's district of Gollmenz, on the other hand, belonged to the Electoral Saxon office of Delitzsch.

Shortly before the Battle of the Nations near Leipzig in 1813, Napoléon Bonaparte stayed one night in the Lindehayn parsonage. Lindenhayn and Gollmenz came to Prussia through the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna and were assigned to the Delitzsch district in the Merseburg administrative district of the province of Saxony in 1816.

On July 1, 1950, the place Gollmenz was incorporated into Lindenhayn. In 1952 Lindenhayn was assigned to the Delitzsch district in the Leipzig district . Since 1990 the place has belonged to the Saxon district of Delitzsch . On January 1, 1995 Lindenhayn merged with four other communities to form the community of Schönwölkau.

The population of Lindenhayn was 233 in 1818. Until the outbreak of the Second World War , the population rose with fluctuations to just over 260. After the end of the war, the population almost doubled. In 1950 the historic high of the population was counted at 551. During the GDR era , the population decreased again. In 1990 exactly 333 people lived in Lindenhayn, and in 2017 the population fell to 267.

Attractions

12th century church

The church of St. Mauritius in Lindenhayn dates from the 12th century. The church consists of the nave and a stone tower; The late Gothic winged altar originally comes from the village church in Kreuma, was later bought by the Nikolaikirchgemeinde Eilenburg and, after a restoration, acquired by the Lindenhayner parish. The bell of the church dates from 1389 or 1489. In 1992 a comprehensive renovation took place.
