Nicholas Ware
Nicholas Ware (born 1769 in Caroline County , Colony of Virginia , † September 7, 1824 in New York City ) was an American politician ( Democratic Republican Party ) who represented the state of Georgia in the US Senate .
A few years after his birth in Virginia, Nicholas Ware moved his parents to Edgefield , South Carolina , before the family settled in Augusta, Georgia. He received extensive training and studied medicine and later law , studying the legal trade in both Augusta and Litchfield Law School in Connecticut . After joining the Bar Association, he began practicing in Augusta.
Ware soon embarked on a political career. Between 1808 and 1811 he was a member of the Georgia House of Representatives for the first time ; a second term in this Chamber of Parliament followed from 1814 to 1815. From 1819 to 1821 he was mayor of Augusta and thus the successor in office of Freeman Walker , after whose resignation as US Senator on August 6, 1821 Nicholas Ware won the due by-election November of the same year took over the vacant mandate in Congress . There he remained until his death in 1824. After the Democratic Republicans split into several factions, he was one of the Crawford Republicans , the supporters of William Harris Crawford .
