Freeman Walker (* 25. October 1780 in Charles City , Charles City County , Virginia ; †  23. September 1827 in Augusta , Georgia ) was an American politician ( Democratic-Republican Party ), of the state of Georgia in the US Senate took .

Freeman Walker trained in Virginia public schools and moved to Augusta, Georgia in 1797. There he studied law , was admitted to the bar in 1803 and finally began to practice as a lawyer.

In 1807 his political career began with membership in the Georgia House of Representatives , where he remained until 1811. Between 1818 and 1819 he was mayor of Augusta. Eventually Walker, who was a member of the Democratic Republicans , was elected to succeed John Forsyth , who was appointed envoy of the United States to Spain and then resigned, to the US Senate in Washington , to which he was a member from November 6, 1819 to August 6, 1821; that day he in turn resigned and returned to Georgia. In 1823 he became mayor of Augusta again, where he died four years later.
