action

Carla, who is hard of hearing, is 35 and an office worker at a real estate company in Paris . At work and in the canteen, she remains unnoticed by her colleagues and, although very efficient, is assigned uninteresting tasks. Her private life consists of occasionally looking after a friend's toddler while she goes out and can report on exciting erotic experiences afterwards. When she can no longer cope with the amount of dossiers to be processed, she is granted a part-time temporary worker. She opts for the parole, ten years her junior, Paul, although he is barely able to operate office equipment.

She accommodates Paul, who has no apartment, in a company property that is unused at night and has the keys to it. He interprets her care as a sexual interest and makes a violent advances, but she rejects him. He doesn't know where he is with her. Thanks to his skills as a car cracker, she brings an arrogant colleague to his knees professionally and takes responsibility for an important project. However, Paul has a significant problem because he owes a large sum to the underworld businessman Marchand. He gives up office work and moves behind the counter of a trendy bar that Marchand owns and where he feels more comfortable. Opposite this bar is a house with one apartment. There Marchand is planning a robbery with other crooks. To find out what they are up to, Paul brings Carla to the roof of the bar, from where she is supposed to decipher their conversations by lip reading with binoculars . Carla spends more time in the bar, dresses more courageously and gains self-confidence. When she is almost the victim of a rape, Paul comes to her aid at the last minute. After several weeks, Paul learns from Carla that the criminals carried out the robbery and that the loot is hidden in the apartment. In the absence of the crooks he breaks in there, but cannot find the money. Then Carla goes there, discovers it in the freezer and takes it. After discovering that the money has disappeared, the crooks suspect Paul and take him on. Carla poses as his abandoned lover to Marchand's jealous wife, Marchand falls into a trap, and Paul is released. In an exchange of fire, he kills the criminals and seizes the prey. Although he bought a ticket to Johannesburg for himself, he stays with Carla.
