six hundred and sixty-eight thousand three hundred and seven  /  one hundred and fifty-eight thousand two hundred sixty-two
The two dams of the Grimsel reservoir were built between 1926 and 1932. The rustic stone cladding made of regularly layered granite blocks gives them a defensive, monumental character that is characteristic of all the early constructions of the Oberhasli power plants . In between is the Grimselhospiz, built in 1929/30, consisting of a brick-lined concrete skeleton with granite stone cladding and a gable roof . The castle-like head building has distinctive stepped gables that define the silhouette.
