List of cultural assets in Meiringen

The list of cultural assets in Meiringen contains all objects in the municipality of Meiringen in the canton of Bern that are subject to the Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict , the Federal Act of June 20, 2014 on the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflicts and the Ordinance of June 29 , 2014 October 2014 on the protection of cultural property in the event of armed conflict .

Objects in category A and B are fully included in the list, objects in category C are currently missing (as of January 1, 2018). Among other monuments protected objects are found, the "worthy of protection" in the canton of Bern Bauinventar than are listed.

The core of the church building, presumably from the 15th century, was consecrated to the Archangel Michael until the Reformation . It got its current appearance during the renovation in 1683/84. The inside presents itself as a spacious, three-aisled relay hall with wooden round pillars and vaults. Next to it is the Zeughauskapelle from 1486, a two-storey, three-sided closed chapel with an ossuary .

The hotel , built in the historicism style in 1879/80 , is a highly representative building from the heyday of tourism in the Bernese Oberland . The stately structure under a mansard roof has a rich sandstone structure, consisting of an entrance projectile with colossal pilasters , window frames and consoles . The interior design is partly still original.

Representative reception building on the Brünigbahn (later SBB , now Zentralbahn ) built in 1888 on behalf of the Jura-Bern-Luzern railway company . Based on the model of the train station in La Neuveville , it is built in a hybrid form of Swiss style and historicism and consists of an elongated structure under a gable roof with a transverse gable.

Ruin of a hilltop castle built in the middle of the 13th century . It was probably the seat of the Knights of Resti, who were fiefs of the Habsburgs . Five-storey tower made of rubble masonry with sparse window openings, sitting directly on the rock spur . After the castle fell into disrepair in the 16th century, it was reconstructed around 1840 and 1914.

Church of England building for English tourists, built in 1892, using the masonry of the previous building that had burned down; has been used as a museum since 1984. Simple neo-Gothic chapel under a gable roof with a roof turret and dividing support pillars.

The farmhouse , built in 1598 with an extension from 1775, is a broad-based square timber block construction on a brick basement base. Its harmoniously proportioned main front with a pronounced wall projection is supported by grooved consoles on each floor . Richly differentiated decorative friezes and flat carvings adorn the representative front.
