List of stumbling blocks in Fürstenau
The list of stumbling blocks in Fürstenau contains all the stumbling blocks that were laid by Gunter Demnig in Fürstenau as part of the art project of the same name . They are intended to commemorate the victims of National Socialism who lived and worked in Fürstenau. In three relocations since July 2014, a total of 50 stumbling blocks have been laid. (As of May 2019)

Alfred Süskind was born in Lingen in 1885 and was head of the Jewish community in Fürstenau for many years. He was married to Sophie Süskind. He was arrested on November 10, 1938 and was imprisoned in the Buchenwald concentration camp. In 1939 he managed to escape to the USA, where he died on September 20, 1982. |

Bernhard Süskind was born on October 6, 1921 as the son of Alfred and Sophie Süskind in Fürstenau. In 1936 he began an apprenticeship as a locksmith in Hamburg . On November 10, 1938, he was arrested in Fürstenau and imprisoned in Buchenwald concentration camp. In 1939 he managed to escape to Sweden and from there to the USA via Norway . In 1942 he joined the US Army and came back to Germany. In April 1945, as a US soldier in Fürstenau, he made sure that the overturned gravestones were put up again in the Jewish cemetery. In 2000 he was made an honorary citizen of Fürstenau. Bernhard Süskind died on November 26, 2018 in New York. | ||

He died on December 2, 1944. | ||

On May 5, 1938 she fled to Winterswijk in the Netherlands, where she married Bernard Nathan Jacob Menko on May 31, 1938 and gave birth to twins Rose Amalia and Jacob on February 28, 1940. From October 6, 1942 to September 7, 1943 she was imprisoned in the Westerbork assembly camp and then deported to the Auschwitz extermination camp. She was later pronounced dead on September 10, 1943. | ||

Herbert Hamburger was born on August 20, 1913 as the son of Jettchen and Alfred Hamburger in Fürstenau. Since 1935 he suffered from epilepsy and was therefore forcibly sterilized on June 5, 1936 in the Protestant hospital Quakenbrück . On October 31, 1939, he was admitted to the state sanatorium and nursing home in Osnabrück. From there he was transferred to the sanatorium in Wunstorf on September 21, 1940 and to the Brandenburg killing center on September 27, 1940 , where he was murdered on the same day as part of Action T4 and thus a victim of euthanasia . | ||
