List of investigative committees of the Berlin House of Representatives

The list of investigative committees of the Berlin House of Representatives includes investigative committees that have been conducted since 1951. The official title of the committees and, if applicable, their colloquial abbreviations and, if applicable, the respective period are listed.

A committee of inquiry in the Berlin House of Representatives can be set up in accordance with Article 48, Paragraph 1 of the Berlin Constitution ; In the event of a request from one fifth of the deputies, the House of Representatives has the duty to set up or resolve a committee of inquiry.

In addition, the Berlin House of Representatives can set up the Committee for the Protection of the Constitution as an investigative committee in accordance with Section 35 (4) sentence 1 of the Berlin Constitutional Protection Act (VSG Berlin).

1st electoral term (1951–1955)

  • 1. Investigation Committee: "Review of the allegations made against the construction company BIAG and Bau-Degen in the press" (so-called BIAG Investigation Committee)
  • 2. Committee of Inquiry: "Investigation of the behavior of all Senate departments involved in matters relating to Administrative Inspector Dora Menzel"

2nd electoral term (1955–1959)

  • 1. Committee of Inquiry: "Investigation of the type of 'news apparatus' allegedly set up by MP Fischer , and whether employees of the State of Berlin have been induced to break their confidentiality" (1956–1957)

3rd electoral term (1959–1963)

  • 1. Committee of Inquiry: "Clarification of whether attempts have been made to illegally influence the public prosecutor's office in cases of bribery"

4th parliamentary term (1963–1967)

  • 1. Investigation Committee: "Examination of the reasons for a crisis of confidence in the management of the German Class Lottery Berlin "

5th electoral term (1967–1971)

  • 1. Committee of Inquiry: "Examination of the causes and backgrounds of the unrest at Freie Universität and the behavior of the demonstrators and the police on the occasion of the state visit of the Iranian imperial couple in Berlin"

6th parliamentary term (1971–1975)

  • 1. Committee of Inquiry: "Examination of whether the President of Freie Universität has performed the tasks assigned to him in accordance with the law"
  • 2. Investigation committee: "Examination of the way in which and on the basis of which facts or expectations the Senate, its members and members of the public service directly or indirectly influenced the acquisition of land for the ' Steglitzer Kreisel ' and its construction and financing planning"

7th legislative term (1975–1979)

  • 1. Investigation Committee: "Investigation of personnel, administrative and business processes relating to KPM " (so-called KPM scandal)
  • 2nd Committee of Inquiry: "Investigation of the violent liberation of prisoners on May 27, 1978 ( Till Meyer )" (1987)

  • 2. Committee of Inquiry: "Clarification of cash payments and contacts to right-wing extremist organizations"
  • 3. Committee of Inquiry: "Clarification of contacts with right-wing extremist organizations"
  • 4. Investigation Committee: "Clarification of possible undesirable developments at the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution "

11th electoral term (1989–1991)

  • Committee for the Protection of the Constitution as the 1st investigative committee to "clarify Heinrich Lummer's contacts with Eastern intelligence services and the way the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution" (1989–1990)
