Novak Đoković , the current leader in the world rankings

Roger Federer is world number one for the longest at 310 weeks.

Pete Sampras is at the top of the tennis world rankings at 286 weeks and is second in the all-time ranking.

Boris Becker was the only German at the top of the world rankings.

Thomas Muster was the only Austrian to achieve first place.

The list of world number one in men's tennis lists all the leaders in the individual ranking of the ATP tennis world rankings since the ranking was introduced on August 23, 1973.

The site initially lists all world number one in chronological order. In the other tables, the respective number one at the end of the year and the leaders according to the number of weeks at the top of the ranking are listed.

Since the introduction of the rating, a total of 26 players have topped the tennis world rankings. The first world number one was the Romanian Ilie Năstase , the current leader is the Serb Novak Đoković . At 310 weeks, the Swiss Roger Federer was the world's number one for the longest. In addition, Federer holds the record for the longest period without a break at the top of the ranking (237 weeks). The record for most of the seasons that ended in position 1 is held by the American Pete Sampras , who did this six times in a row. John McEnroe has captured or recaptured the top position 14 times, more often than any other player.
