Catholic parish church hl. Oswald and cemetery with war memorial ObjektID : 63838 |
Alpbach location KG: Alpbach |
The church, which is Gothic in its core, is surrounded by a cemetery and is eaten. It was first mentioned in documents in 1369, and a consecration has been handed down for 1420. In the early 16th century renovations were carried out and at the beginning of the 18th century the church was expanded in the area of the nave. The striking tower has retained the originally Gothic character of the exterior. The five-bay long building has a steep, clapboard-roofed gable roof, a slightly drawn-in polygonal choir and is flanked by the chapel of the dead and the sacristy. The slender tower has coupled sound windows and an octagonal gable-pointed helmet. The exterior is simple with a covered arched portal and narrow arched windows.
The interior is completely baroque with a flat needle cap barrel over a pilaster structure, and with stucco decoration and ceiling paintings of the Rococo by Christoph Anton Mayr , signed in 1755 and exposed and supplemented in 1959. In the west a double gallery over columns. The physicist Erwin Schrödinger , who died in 1961, is buried in the cemetery. |
