The Altenfelden parish church goes back to an older predecessor, with today's nave being built in the 14th century at the latest. The chapels were built in the 14th and 15th centuries, the choir was given its shape at the beginning of the 15th century. At the end of the 15th century, the nave was rebuilt in late Gothic style. The choir, which was redesigned in Baroque style around 1685, houses a high altar created in 1859, which is an important, early historical example of Gothic altar architecture. The middle picture shows Pope Sixtus II.
