The church was mentioned in a document in 1244, after a fire in 1645 it was rebuilt in 1699. Restorations took place outside in 1961 and inside in 1964. It is a baroque building with furnishings from the 18th century Rococo. The tower is free, it is dated 1662. Its ground floor is used as a memorial to soldiers.

The parsonage was expanded from 1760–66; carved doors from this period and a room painted with Chinese landscapes still exist. Also a picture of the Salzburg Archbishop Cardinal Max Gandolf von Kuenburg from around 1760, to whose sphere of influence belonged the Diocese of Lavant , in which the parish of St. Peter was located at that time.

The building is dated 1779, it is a former wine cellar on which one floor was built.
