University of Arkansas at Little Rock
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock (also called UALR ) is a state university in Little Rock in the middle of the US state of Arkansas . With 12,000 students, the university is the second largest public college in Arkansas after the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville . Since 1969 it has been part of the University of Arkansas system . The university is particularly known for its research and teaching in information technology, as well as for its law faculty.
history
The university was founded as Little Rock Junior College in 1927 and was converted into Little Rock University in 1957 . In 1969 it became part of the University of Arkansas system under its current name .
Sports
The UALR sports teams are the Little Rock Trojans . The university is a member of the Sun Belt Conference .
