Live and Unreleased is a compilation of previously unreleased live recordings by the band Weather Report .
General
The recordings are from seven concerts between 1975 and 1983. Although live improvisation was essential for the band, this is only the third official live recording after Live in Tokyo in 1972 and 8:30 in 1979. The 1975 recordings with Alphonso Johnson , Chester Thompson and Alex Acuña are notable because no official live recordings have been released in this band composition before.
The compilation gives an overview of the main phase of the band. The order of the recordings on the CDs is not chronological.

reception
Allmusic critic Thom Jurek awarded four out of five stars and praised many pieces, but also noted that the live atmosphere of an entire concert is only partially reproduced by the non-chronological composition.
