Elizabeth "Lizzie" Arnot (born March 1, 1996 in Scotland ) is a Scottish national soccer player . The player has been under contract with the English club Manchester United WFC since 2018 . Before that she played for Hibernian Edinburgh for several years . In 2015 she played for the Scottish national team for the first time .

Career

societies

Arnot started playing football at Edinburgh City, later moving to Hutchison Vale and moving to Hibernian Edinburgh in 2012 , where she won the Cup once and the League Cup three times. She could n't win a championship with the Hibs . It was only enough for three runners-up championships. In 2015, they benefited from the fact that the Scottish runner-up was also admitted to the 2016/17 UEFA Women's Champions League for the first time and qualified directly for the round of 32. Here she was used in both games against the German champions FC Bayern Munich , but lost both games (0: 6 and 1: 4). After a cruciate ligament rupture , she was out for almost a year, but had a wonderful comeback in the 2018 League Cup final, where she contributed five goals to the 9-0 win over Celtic Glasgow.

For the 2018/19 season she moved to Manchester United WFC . The club had received a license for the FA Women's Championship , the second highest division in English women's football, and was able to finish the season as champions. She went down in club history as the first goalscorer when she scored the decisive 1-0 against Liverpool in the first WSL Cup game on August 19, 2018.

National team

Arnot took part with the U-17 team in October 2011 in the first qualifying round for the 2012 U-17 European Football Championship for women , where they were used in the three games. She scored her first international goal in the 1-1 draw in the second game against Austria. With another draw and a win, the Scottish women finished second in the group, but missed the second qualifying round as the second worst group second. At the end of September / beginning of October 2012 they made a new attempt, but failed again as third party.

In March 2013 she took part in a tournament in La Manga with the U-19s and in April in the second qualifying round for the 2013 U-19 European Women's Football Championship . The Scottish women had home rights, but could not use this in the first game against Denmark and lost with 0: 1. Since the Danes also won the other two games, the victories against Austria and Ukraine were of no use to the Scottish women, because they were only second-best group runner-up and only the best group runner-up was qualified for the final round alongside the group winners. In September they made a new attempt at a tournament in Macedonia . The Scottish women were group winners 29: 1, scoring one goal in every game. The second qualifying round in Croatia in April 2014 also ended with three wins. A goal in the 2-0 win against Russia is counted as an own goal by a Russian by UEFA and as a goal by Arnot by the Scottish Association. With three wins, the Scottish women qualified for the finals in Norway . After a 2-0 win over Belgium against the Netherlands, they lost 3-2 and the hosts lost 5-0. In September 2014 she was back in the first qualifying round for the 2015 U-19 European Championship . At the tournament in Albania , the best runner-up in the group made it into the second round with two wins and a draw against Norway. Here they lost 6-0 against hosts Germany in a tournament in April 2015. In the second game, she made two goals for a 2-2 win against Belgium and contributed another goal to make it 3-0 against Ukraine. When they were third in the group, however, they missed the finals. This ended her time in the U-teams.

She made her first appearance in the senior national team five months later on September 17, 2015 in the 4-0 home defeat against Norway , where she came on 21 minutes before the end of the game. Five days later she made her first competitive appearance in the Scottish women's first game against Slovenia. In the first game of qualification for the European Championship 2017 , she was substituted on in the 67th minute. She was also substituted in towards the end of the game in the next two qualifying games. After two more substitutions in friendly matches at the beginning of 2016, she had to wait until January 2017 for further appearances and thus did not contribute to the fact that the Scottish women were able to qualify for a European Championship finals for the first time. In two draws in friendly matches against Denmark during a training camp in Cyprus , she played one half each, with her first start in the second game. At the Cyprus Cup 2017 she was substituted on in the first two games after an hour, in the third game she played for 90 minutes for the first time, as well as in the game for 5th place, which was won against Wales on penalties . In the next friendly, which was lost 5-0 to Belgium , she was on the field for another 90 minutes. Because of her cruciate ligament rupture, she could not be nominated for the EM.

It was not until June 2018 that she returned to a six-minute short stint in the fourth from last qualifying game for the 2019 World Cup against Belarus . She was substituted on in the next two qualifying games, in the last game she was back in the starting line-up, but was replaced after 66 minutes. The victories in the four games made it possible to qualify for the World Cup finals for the first time. She was then used in the next eight games and scored her first two international A goals on March 4 at the Algarve Cup 2019 in a 4-1 win against Iceland . On May 15, she was nominated for the 2019 World Cup. At the World Cup it was used in the two 2-1 defeats to England and Japan . In the last group game against Argentina , in which they were not used, the Scottish women led 3-0 after 69 minutes, but then had to accept three goals, including the decisive goal to 3: 3 in the fourth minute of stoppage time, and were thereby eliminated out.
