Career

society

Doyley is a native of Watford FC, making his professional debut on September 26, 2001 in a 3-3 draw with Birmingham City . During the 2001/02 season of the second division , then coach Gianluca Vialli gave various young talents the chance to play so that they can gain experience. Doyley benefited from this promotion and played 22 games. In the following seasons Doyley initially came only to sporadic missions, this should change in the 2004/05 season , where he was able to establish himself. With Watford he also reached the semi-finals of the League Cup , where they were eliminated against Liverpool .

In the 2005/06 season , Doyley, now a regular player, played 44 games, more than any other field player on his team. At the end of the season he reached third place in the table with Watford, which meant participation in the play-offs for the Premier League . In the play-offs, he played in the return leg against Crystal Palace . Crystal Palace could be defeated, and Doyley was also involved in the final against Leeds United . Watford FC were also victorious in the final, and promotion to the Premier League was made perfect.

His first season in the Premier League was unfortunate for both him and his club. Although Doyley came to 21 missions, Watford was relegated last and six points behind the runners-up. Doyley scored an own goal in a 4-0 loss to Manchester City .

In the League Cup 2008/09 he led his team as captain in the victories against the Bristol Rovers and against Darlington FC .

Aidy Boothroyd , who coached Watford FC for three years, described Doyley as the "black Zidane " . By the fans, however, he is called "Lloydinho" .

His first goal as a professional footballer was a long time coming: On December 7, 2009, in his 269th game for Watford, Doyley scored his first goal against Queens Park Rangers , the game Watford won 3-1. The fans joked about Doyley's goal doldrums for a long time, Doyley himself said after the game that he knew that the moment of his first goal would come one day, but it would have taken longer than he would have thought.

In the summer of 2012, Doyley received an award for his tenth year at Watford FC before a preparation game against Tottenham Hotspur , the friendly game Watford lost 0-1.

Doyley scored his second goal on September 15, 2012 against Bolton Wanderers almost three years after his first goal. He made his 350th appearance on February 8, 2013 in a 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace. During the absence of Manuel Almunia , he led his team as captain against Wolverhampton Wanderers , dated March 1, 2013. Doyley made his 400th appearance (in all competitions) against Hull City on April 2, 2013 when he was injured was substituted on by Fitz Hall .

On March 27, 2014 Doyley extended his contract for another year. After Watford's rise in the 2014-15 season , Doyley's contract was not renewed, but he was allowed to continue his rehabilitation program after a neck injury.
