Loft is a Belgian film directed by Erik Van Looy in 2008, with a cast of Flemish actors. The screenplay of the thriller is by Bart De Pauw .

Vincent, Luc, Marnix, Chris and his brother Filip belong to the upper middle class in Belgium. They have been friends for years, they are all married and are bored in their bourgeois life. They seek variety in numerous extramarital affairs.
The architect Vincent has bought a luxurious loft and gives each of the friends a key. The existence of this loft is kept a secret from the wives, and it is maintained by all five. There the men meet with prostitutes or lovers.
After a bloodied corpse is found tied to the bed, Vincent gathers the others to solve the case. Flashbacks that are intertwined by interrogation scenes from the present unravel the whole story.
It turns out that Vincent found pleasure in having sex with women who were in some way related to his friends. The uptight and unattractive Luc installed a hidden camera in the loft and filmed and viewed everything that was going on there. Luc, who was in love with one of Vincent's mistresses, staged a subtle intrigue, at the end of which the mistress was accidentally killed by Filip and Vincent appears as a suspect. The psychiatrist Chris exposes Luc as a schemer. Luc first tries to force Chris to commit suicide. When he fails, he throws himself to his death from the balcony of the loft.
A year later, Chris meets his former lover, the prostitute Ann Marai. Their conversation shows that Filip is waiting for his trial. Chris, who actually wants to finish with this kind of life, has a date with Ann Marai, with whom he used to be in love.

Parts of the film were shot in Ostend . The building in which the loft is located is in Antwerp on the Scheldt .
Film music
The German composer Wolfram de Marco was responsible for the soundtrack. The London Metropolitan Orchestra was hired to record the twelve pieces of music, which are described as dark and mysterious . The CD was released in 2008 on the Swedish label MovieScore Media.

Loft is the most successful Belgian film of all time. On February 18, 2009 he set the previous record for the film Koko Flanel by Stijn Coninx with 1,082,000 visitors. A total of 1,186,071 visitors were recorded.

In 2011, the American remake Murder in the Loft was shot, which celebrated its world premiere on October 14, 2014 at the Film Fest Gent . The film was released in German cinemas on December 11, 2014. Again directed by Erik Van Looy. Matthias Schoenaerts could be won again for the role of Philip.
Television broadcast
On May 16, 2011, the ZDF showed the film under the title "Deadly Affairs" for the first time on German television.
