Lompe (the or the; in the plural: the lomper ) is a flatbread of Norwegian cuisine . It is a traditional meal and can be served at any time of the day. The lompers consist mainly of boiled potatoes with a little wheat flour and salt . They are baked on a baking plate ( Norwegian Steiketakke , Takke for short ), which used to be made of stone, later also made of cast iron ; today there are also electric baking plates .

Lomper can be eaten as a separate dish. Both as a hearty snack topped with cheese, such as the typical brunost (a goat cheese with karamellartigem taste), sausage or Rakfisk (in brine pickled food fish ), or on the other as a sweet dessert with butter smeared and sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar.

In Norway, Pølse i lompe ( German  "sausage in the lompe" ) is a possible substitute for a hot dog or a sausage in a dressing gown and a fast food dish that is particularly popular with children . The lompe is wrapped around the sausage , similar to a Mexican wrap . Of course, it can be refined with mustard , onions or ketchup . Pølse med lompe ( German "sausage with lompe" ) is available in almost all fast-food restaurants in Norway and petrol stations in the country.
