Londen Fryar (* 19th May 1986 in Sharon , Massachusetts ) is an American American football poker players on the position of the cornerbacks . In 2011 he played in the German Football League (GFL) for the Mönchengladbach Mavericks . He previously played for the Kansas City Chiefs and the New York Giants in the National Football League (NFL). He is the son of former NFL wide-receiver Irving Fryar .

Life

Fryar attended Holy Cross High School and played there successfully as a wide receiver , defensive back and kick-returner . Because of his achievements, he was voted into several All-Star teams . He was also a 100-meter runner and played various other sports. After graduating from high school, he moved to Western Michigan University , where he was only used as a cornerback. The college selection was viewed critically by many fans of the University of Nebraska football team , for which Fryar's father Irving Fryar completed his highly successful college career. Nebraska and WMU play in the league and therefore meet regularly, which has resulted in a certain rivalry. Londen Fryar, who among other things also had offers for sports scholarships from West Virginia and Rutgers University , only decided on the WMU because the University of Nebraska had not offered him a scholarship.

After a red shirt season without appearances in regular games in 2004, he got his first playing time as a player of the special team in 2005 and was able to block a field goal , among other things . As of 2006, he was the team's first cornerback and was elected to the league's all-star team in both 2006 and 2007, breaking some of the university's records. Throughout his college career, he has played 42 games, made 160 tackles, and seven interceptions . In the 2009 NFL Draft , Fryar was not selected, but his agent said there was interest from at least twelve teams from the National Football League, including the New England Patriots. Shortly after the draft, he was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs , who released him a few weeks later. In December 2009 he signed a contract with the New York Giants , where he stayed four months and served as a substitute. After his time in the NFL, he went to the La Crosse Spartans in the professional indoor football league , for which he played for a year.

In the 2011 season he played for the Mönchengladbach Mavericks in the German Football Bundesliga GFL, where he dislocated a shoulder in the quarter-finals against the Stuttgart Scorpions and could not play in the semi-finals. The Mavericks hit the headlines in late 2011 for allegedly employing US players illegally. Fryar posted a photo of his “ residence permit ” issued by the Mönchengladbach city council on April 14, 2011 with permission to work as a football player with the Mavericks until October 31, 2011 on the Internet.
