Lorenzo Voltolini Esti (born May 20, 1948 in Poncarale , Lombardy ) is an Italian clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic Archbishop of Portoviejo in Ecuador .

Life

Lorenzo Voltolini Esti was ordained a priest on June 15, 1974 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Bisuldino and auxiliary bishop in Portoviejo on December 7, 1993 . The bishop of Portoviejo, José Mario Ruiz Navas , ordained him episcopal on January 12 of the following year ; Co- consecrators were Antonio José Cardinal González Zumárraga , Archbishop of Quito , and Raúl Holguer López Mayorga , Bishop of Latacunga .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on August 6, 2007 Archbishop of Portoviejo.

On October 28, 2016, Pope Francis appointed him a member of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Order of the Sacraments .

On September 14, 2018, Pope Francis accepted his early resignation in order to enable entry into the Trappist order, which was scheduled for November 2018 .
