Louis Jänecke

Louis Jänecke (born February 26, 1878 in Hanover ; † November 20, 1960 there ; full name: Louis Heinrich Friedrich Jänecke ) was a German railway civil engineer , construction clerk and university professor .

Life

Louis Jänecke completed his studies at the Technical University of Hanover in 1904 with the academic degree Dipl.-Ing. from. In 1905 he received the Schinkel Prize .

After his appointment as a government master builder ( assessor in the public building administration) in 1907, Jänecke went on various study trips to South America . In 1912 he received his doctorate in Hanover as Dr.-Ing. with a thesis on "Brazil's foreign trade and its traffic conditions with special consideration of the relations with Germany".

After Jänecke had served in the German army from 1914 to 1918 during the First World War , from 1919 he worked in Magdeburg and Berlin , among other places . At the Technical University of Wroclaw he taught from 1927 to 1945 as a full professor of railway engineering and transport at the seminar of the same name, established in 1927. In 1928/1929 he was dean of the Faculty of Construction.

During the Nazi era, Jänecke took part in spatial planning for the Upper Silesian industrial area.

As early as 1945, under the British military authorities , Louis Jänecke held the chair for transport policy , urban planning and railways at the Technical University of Hanover. In 1949 he retired, but was appointed honorary professor by the university on June 19, 1950 .

Since his studies in Hanover he was a member of the Corps Macaro-Visurgia .
