Louis Jean Joseph Leblanc (* 26. January 1991 in Pointe-Claire , Quebec ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player , who during his playing career from 2006 to 2016, among other 50 games for de Canadiens Montréal in the National Hockey League on the position of Centers has denied.
Career
Louis Leblanc began his career as a hockey player with the Lions de Lac Saint-Louis, for which he was active in the lower class junior league QMAAA from 2006 to 2008. He then played for a year for the Omaha Lancers in the junior league United States Hockey League .
In Omaha he was able to convince straight away and was voted Rookie of the Year and the USHL's All-Rookie Team. He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2009 in the first round as the 18th player of the Canadiens de Montréal . First, however, he attended Harvard University for a year , for whose ice hockey team he played parallel in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . He was also able to convince at Harvard University and was elected to the all-rookie team of ECAC Hockey . He decided, however, in the 2010/11 season for the Club de hockey junior de Montréal from the Canadian top junior league Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec . There he received the Paul Dumont Trophy as Personality of the Year in 2011 .
In the 2011/12 season Leblanc made his debut for the Canadiens de Montréal in the National Hockey League . In his rookie year he scored five goals and five assists in 42 games for the Canadiens. At the same time he played for Montreal's farm team Hamilton Bulldogs in the American Hockey League (AHL). In June 2014, the center was transferred to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for a five-round vote in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft . There he worked exclusively with the Norfolk Admirals in the AHL before he joined the New York Islanders as a free agent in July 2015 . After he had not received a place in the NHL squad in the training camp, Leblanc reached an amicable agreement with the Islanders to terminate his contract.
He then signed with HC Slovan Bratislava in the Continental Hockey League , where he in the season 2015/16 after seven games without points scorer, first of MsHK Zilina in the Slovak Extraliga was loaned, and finally in January 2016. Lausanne HC in the National League A changed . After the end of the season, he announced his retirement from active sports in June 2016 in order to resume his abandoned studies at Harvard University.
International
For Canada Leblanc took part in the U20 World Junior Championship in 2011 , where he won the silver medal with his team. He himself contributed to this success with three goals and four assists in seven games.
