action

Clemens begins his probationary period as a masseur in a wellness hotel on the Baltic Sea. Shy and often clumsy, he tries to find his way in the luxury world. Cooking trainee Lara, on the other hand, masters her work in the kitchen with boldness and confidence. Both are slowly getting closer. She, who likes to take what she wants, has to use all sorts of tricks to get him to bed in the end . He manages to get rid of his initial insecurity a little and, not least through his relationship with Lara, to develop more self-confidence. When he begins to articulate his own wishes more clearly, a first conflict arises. Lara, who always wants to be in control, gets lost in alcohol again . However, Clemens wants Lara to get away from her increased alcohol consumption and mentions bottles standing around in the kitchen to the kitchen management. Lara, who receives a warning, lies to Clemens that she has now been fired because of his "betrayal" . Clemens then confronts the supposedly responsible persons at a management meeting. He quits his job. Lara finds out about it and runs after him. Out by the sea, the two slap and fight violently until they finally kiss.

production

Shooting of the film “Love Steaks” on the steep coast south of Ahrenshoop. On the left, the main actress Lana Cooper in a white jacket .

The film was shot without dubbing and with improvised dialogues in the Hotel Kurhaus Ahrenshoop on the Baltic Sea . Apart from the two main actors and Ev-Katrin Weiß, all participants are employees of the hotel. Similar to the Dogma 95 concept, a set of rules for the realization of the film was drawn up under the term FOGMA : Cohesion among filmmakers is required and all those involved are allowed to contribute ideas in an anti-hierarchical manner. The film was made without funding when the director studied at the HFF Potsdam together with the Munich film production company Mamoko Entertainment.

criticism

"'Love Steaks' is an exception in the German film landscape, an exciting and funny film, one that is as artistic as it is saturated with reality - and which was made without any funding."

- Oliver Kaever : Der Spiegel from March 27, 2014

"LOVE STEAKS is a courageous contribution to the question of the form of modern film and a strong story at the same time."
