Loves Park is a town in Winnebago County in northern US -amerikanischen state of Illinois . The city has now grown beyond the county line, so that part of the city is now in Boone County . In 2000, Loves Park had 20,044 residents; by 2009 their number had increased to 24,464. Loves Park is part of the Rockford Metropolitan Area .

Loves Park is located on the east bank of the Rock River , south of Machesney Park at 42 ° 19'34 "north latitude and 89 ° 01'33" west longitude. The city extends over 37.89 km², which is spread over 36.86 km² of land and 1.03 km² of water.

The Illinois State Route 151 , which runs north from Rockford, runs through the center of Loves Park and a railroad line runs parallel to it.

Loves Park is a suburb of Rockford, the city center of which is 7.7 km south-southeast down the Rock River. Surrounding cities are Chicago (138 km southeast), the Quad Cities (187 km southwest), Wisconsin's capital Madison (104 km north) and Milwaukee (143 km northeast).

Demographic data

In the official census in 2000 , the population was 20,044. These were distributed over 8,144 households in 5,399 families. The population density was 529.0 inhabitants per square kilometer. There were 8,438 residential buildings, which corresponded to a building density of 222.7 buildings per square kilometer.

The population in 2000 was 92.9 percent white , 2.3 percent African American , 0.2 percent Native American , 1.8 percent Asian, and 1.1 percent other. 1.6 percent said they came from at least two of these groups. 3.3 percent of the population were Hispanics belonging to any of the above groups.

26.2 percent were under 18 years of age, 8.0 percent between 18 and 24, 33.7 percent between 25 and 44, 20.8 percent between 45 and 64 and 11.3 percent 65 and older. The mean age was 35 years. For every 100 women there were statistically 95.9 men, among those over 18 years of age 92.7.

The median income per household was 45,238  US dollars  (USD), the median family income 52,061 USD. The median income for men was $ 38,167 and that for women was $ 25,771. The per capita income was $ 20,781. Around 3.7 percent of families and 5.0 percent of the total population had their income below the poverty line .
