The Boone County is a county in the north of the US state of Illinois . In 2010, the county had 54,165 residents with a population density of 74.4 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Belvidere .
Boone County is part of the Rockford metropolitan area .
geography
The county is located in northern Illinois on the Kishwaukee River and has an area of 730 square kilometers, of which two square kilometers are water. The northern border of the county is also the border with the state of Wisconsin . Boone County is the smallest of the northern counties in terms of area. history
The first settlers came from New York and New England. On March 3, 1836, the new county was separated from Winnebago County. The new county was named after the Kentucky pioneer Daniel Boone . In 1850 there were already 12 settlements.
