The album is a best-of album of twelve songs and three cover pieces that have been featured on previous albums by the band. General

Low Voltage was seventh in Germany, 49th in Austria and 69th in Switzerland and was therefore less successful than the previous album. The BossHoss played a few tracks unplugged on the Do or Die tour , and based on the positive feedback from the audience, they decided to record a best of album.

As with the four previous albums, Hoss Power was not only active as a producer, but also as an arranger and mixer. Guss Brooks appears here for the first time as a sound engineer, the drums and percussion instruments were recorded by Sir Frank Doe and Ernesto Escobar de Tijuana. As usual, the graphic design was done by Boss Burns.

Explanations of the individual pieces

Stallion Battalion

The song was slowed down significantly and extended by 1:15 minutes. Contrary to the original, Hoss Power plays acoustic guitar, the winds take on a leading role and displace the guitar parts of the original.

Have Love Will Travel

Originally written by Richard Berry, it is very similar to the version of the Sonics , after whose song The Real BossHoss the band was named in 2004.

Rodeo Queen

The only big changes compared to the original are the strings in the background and the backing vocals, which were omitted in this version. The piece has been extended by 26 seconds. Burns sings the harmonies in the intro.

Shake & Shout

Like Stallion Battalion, the song was slowed down significantly and extended by 40 seconds.

Go! Go! Go!

The intro of Do or Die has been shortened in this version.

Rodeo radio

Rodeo Radio was extended by 1:09 minutes.

Close

Contrary to the version on Do or Die , the strings in the intro and the brass section clearly stand out in the chorus. Of the percussion instruments, only a few drum and cymbal accents (played by Doe) and a shaker in the chorus (played by de Tijuana) can be heard.

I say a little prayer

I Say a Little Prayer has been extended by 55 seconds compared to the version on Rodeo Radio .

Break Free

The intro and the first verse are much lighter than the original, which in turn gives the break to the chorus a different effect.

Mary marry me

The only song that was shortened contrary to the original. In the original it is only sung by Hoss Power, accompanied by an acoustic and an electric guitar. The electric lead guitar was exchanged for an acoustic one and is accompanied by strings.

Gay bar

Contrary to the version on Stallion Battalion, Gay Bar was extended by 18 seconds. The guitar has been completely taken out and the entire song is played less than half as fast. The bass drum lines in the intro and in the bridge have been left out. The intro is not played on the electric guitar, but on a flute.

Remedy

The only track that was included in the compilation from the debut album Internashville Urban Hymns .

Sugarman

The song was previously recorded for the first time by Sixto Diaz Rodriguez. The BossHoss first released the title as a bonus track on the deluxe edition of Stallion Battalion . Contrary to the original by Rodriguez, guitars and a brass section were used for the intro and verse.

No one knows

The song was written by Josh Homme. The intro was the first time a timpani was played on a release by The BossHoss . Doe is only used in the second quarter of the piece. The leading part of the chorus is taken over by the wind instruments instead of the guitars.

Last day

Another part was placed before the intro of the original. The percussion instruments stand out more clearly than on Do or Die .
