Michael Frick (born December 4, 1971 in Berlin-Wedding ) is a German double bass player , singer , instrument maker and founding member of the Berlin band The BossHoss . He is currently the bass player in the band Hot Boogie Chillun and in the medieval band Corvus Corax .

biography

Frick has been a double bass player since 1986 and was part of the German psychobilly scene from the late 1980s . However, he never committed himself to a certain musical style and also played in various rockabilly , rock 'n' roll and swing / jazz bands. In 2004 he founded the band The BossHoss with Sascha Vollmer , with whom he had already played in Hot Boogie Chillun, and Alec Völkel . He left the group in the same year, but still played the Langnese commercial song Like Ice in the Sunshine .

In 2006 he accepted the offer of the Psychobilly musician P. Paul Fenech at the Meteors to fill the vacant position of bassist. In between he plays in various bands and projects, including Ray & The Rockets . Since February 2017, Frick has been supporting the medieval band Corvus Corax at the Bass Citole . The band Hot Boogie Chillun has been performing again since April 2018.

In addition to his musical activities, Frick founded the company Frickbass Instrumentenbau in 2002, which primarily deals with the exclusive construction of double basses. His clientele includes bands and musicians such as Mad Sin , Bonsai Kitten , Hervé Jeanne , Rafi Kirder and The BossHoss. The VW Autostadt in Wolfsburg regularly lends a Frickbass for its events and a with Vijay Iyer or Mitch Winehouse , the father of Amy Winehouse . With the electro-swing / jazz band The Drapers, who realized the song We No Speak Americano for Yolanda Be Cool , Frick performed in 2010 a. a. at Sat.1 . He also plays in Bill Haley Orchestra and Bill Haley Comets new, with the youngest daughter of since 2011. Bill Haley tours, Gina Haley. Frick lives and works in Berlin.
