Luís António Palha Teixeira

Luís António Palha Teixeira OP (born May 10, 1896 in Santa Rita de Rio Prêto ; † August 21, 1981 ) was a Brazilian religious and prelate of Marabá .

Life

Luís António Palha Teixeira joined the religious order of the Dominicans at and received on 11 April 1925, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On January 2, 1948, he was appointed Apostolic Administrator of the vacant Territorial Prelature Santíssima Conceição do Araguaia . Pope Pius XII appointed him on February 20, 1951 titular bishop of Lunda and prelate of Santíssima Conceição do Araguaia. The Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil, Archbishop Carlo Chiarlo , donated him episcopal ordination on May 13 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Porto Nacional , Alain du Noday OP, and the Prelate of Bananal , Cândido Bento Maria Penso OP.

He attended the first session of the Second Vatican Council as a council father. Since the renaming of the territorial prelature on December 20, 1969, he was Prelate of Marabá.

Pope Paul VI took his age-related resignation . not until November 10, 1976, months after his 80th birthday.
