Luís Novo

Luís Novo ( Luís Azevedo da Silva Novo ; born May 29, 1970 in Oliveira do Bairro ) is a former Portuguese marathon runner .

In 1998 he came at the Half Marathon World Championships in Uster on rank 16. In the same year he qualified with a second place in the Reims Marathon for the marathon of the Athletics World Championships 1999 in Seville, in which he was fourth.

In 2000 he came 13th at the Rotterdam Marathon and 50th at the Olympic Games in Sydney .

In 2001 he won the Vienna City Marathon , but had to give up at the World Championships in Edmonton after a good 30 kilometers. The following year he was ninth in the Beppu-Ōita marathon . After a seventh place at the Berlin Marathon in 2004, he was nominated for the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki, where he came in 24th.

After failing to finish 22nd at the Hamburg Marathon and 19th at the Berlin Marathon in 2006 and not finishing at the European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg , he ended his career in 2007.

Luís Novo is 1.73 meters tall and weighs 61 kg. He completed a sports degree at the University of Porto . Most recently he was trained by João Campos and starts for the Maia Atlético Clube.
