history

Lucky Fish, whose name goes back to the song in an English textbook, first began to play with a makeshift drummer before his friend Gursky joined them. After initial cover versions , they began to write songs . Then the former school band was discovered by Amadeus Böhm during one of his so-called "living room concerts" and signed to his label Flowerstreet Records . The band uses the former bowling alley in the basement of the bassist's parents' house as a rehearsal room . All band members also play in other bands, Pasalic in the Stray Colors and the rest of the members in The Whiskey Foundation . Klein and Gursky also play with Sarah Lias , Gursky also play in a band called Plug-In . In the beginning, Lucky Fish gave concerts in Munich clubs or, for example, in the event hall of the Feierwerk cultural center .

In February 2009, the EP Empty Dishes , recorded in late autumn 2008, was released , which was rated rather negatively in the music magazine Mainstage except for the last song. Raphael Schmidt from the e-zine Allschools Network also felt reminded of The Kooks when he heard the album and concluded: “The guys, with an average age of 17, have copied nicely and consistently convince on five tracks with their independence and the ability to write hits. You can hear potential especially when they rock dirty like on "Passion" or the lively "Lights out" where they play dignified. ” In the internet magazine Gaesteliste.de one found the entry into the EP rating with the Words: "With their debut EP" Empty Dishes "Munich combo Lucky Fish hits the wall right away and shows that one can expect a lot from them." And Christian Schober from LAXMag wrote in December 2009 shortly before the release of the Looking back on debut albums: "With their debut EP Empty Dishes, the Munich indie pop band Lucky Fish made an impressive calling card in 2008, ..." . Among other things, the magazine Focus became aware of the band in October 2009 and presented them as the youngest newcomer band on its entertainment channel in November .

In February 2010, the debut album Away from the Cliffs was released and received consistently positive reviews. From Michael Schuh ( laut.de ), among other things, with the appreciative words “Raise the curtain for Lucky Fish: A band whose debut album would have deserved all the superlatives of advertising . Britpop Heroes! Next big thing! Yes! " And " Lucky Fish are a direct hit. A newcomer band that will hit the streets. ” . He summarized the musical style with "The strength of the band clearly lies in fresh, dynamic and very catchy melodies, which singer Zlatko Pasalic thankfully enriches with rich texts resulting from everyday observations." Schober stated in the above-mentioned LAXMag article: " but the Munich not only sound like their role models from the island and enjoy with optical Britishness, it's her songwriting, which proves that they have eaten of the style and the substance of this music. " and Udo Gröbbels recommended the album at RockTimes . The Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation now also became aware of the musicians who are now of legal age. The youth channel on3-radio presented them for the first time in March 2010 and shortly afterwards the TV magazine on3-südwild as band of the week. Matthias Meiner, front man of the band Naked Feen , stated: "Suddenly they were playing everywhere and everyone was running to their concerts."

In 2011 the second EP was released with the title A Frog on the Highway with nine tracks, which received disappointing reviews on Gröbbels ( RockTimes ), but on whiskey-soda.de with the words "'A Frog On The Highway" is an energetic album, whose beat makes the pulse beat faster and takes the listener on a little journey through time to the swinging 60ies. ”was judged.
