Ludwig Droste

Ludwig Droste (born December 14, 1814 in Hanover ; † February 2, 1875 there ) was a German architect and construction clerk , he is one of the representatives of the "Hanoverian round arch style ".

Life

1831–1834 Droste studied at the higher trade school in Hanover with Ernst Ebeling , from 1834–1837 he worked as a site manager for Ludwig Hellner . In the years 1837 and 1838 he undertook extensive study trips, 1838–1839 he completed his studies in Munich with Friedrich von Gärtner . From 1849 Droste was a city master builder in Hanover, and in 1862 he was given the honorary title of “Royal Building Councilor”. Droste built numerous schools and other public buildings in Hanover, including the Engesohde city cemetery , where he himself was buried. As a master builder he was a representative of the "Hanoverian round arch style". He belonged to the Hanoverian Masonic lodge "Friedrich zum white horses".

After the death of Ludwig Droste, who had still received his title in the Kingdom of Hanover , the engineer Rudolph Berg was his successor: For this purpose, the position of city ​​planning officer was created in Hanover and Rudolph Berg was the first to take this position on May 1, 1875 elected.
