Ludwig Foglár

Ludwig Stephan Foglár (born December 24, 1819 in Vienna , † August 15, 1889 in Kammer , Attersee ), was an Austrian lawyer and writer. (sometimes he used the pseudonym Leberecht Flott )

Foglár was the son of an Austro-Hungarian court official and the older brother of the writer Adolf Foglár .

After graduating from high school , Foglár enrolled at the University of Vienna for philosophy , music and modern languages . After successfully completing his studies, Foglár became an official of the Austrian first Danube steamship company .

As such, he married a year later, in 1843, a niece of the government councilor Schulz von Straßnitzky. Foglár lived with his wife in Pest for five years (1845–1850) and then in Vienna for 15 years. His wife died here in 1865.

Due to his position, Foglár traveled almost all of Europe. He processed the impressions of his travels in columns and essays in various newspapers and magazines. In 1857 the University of Gießen appointed Ludwig Foglár Dr. phil hc

At the age of 51, he married a daughter of the poet Ludwig von Deinhardstein in 1870 . Ludwig Stephan Foglár died on August 15, 1889 at the age of 70 in Kammer am Attersee.
