Ludwig von Briesen

Christian Heinrich Louis (Ludwig) Christoph von Briesen (born February 14, 1773 in Kreitzig , † November 30, 1859 in Botenhagen ) was a Prussian district administrator .

His parents were Johann (Hans) Christoph von Briesen († 1774) and his wife Charlotte Henriette Friederike, née von Lockstedt .

Career

Briesen became district administrator of the Schivelbein district in May 1808 as the successor to Johann George Friedrich von Leckow . At the beginning of his term of office, the French occupation fell with their billeting and war taxes, then the wars of liberation , so that the district was finally completely in debt. In 1816, the Schivelbein district was reclassified from Neumark to the Pomerania Province as part of the Prussian administrative reform . Briesen remained district administrator until 1830, followed by Carl Freiherr von der Goltz .

family

In 1796 he married Karoline Wilhelmine Marie von Ludwig (1782–1857). The marriage ended in divorce in 1809, but they remarried in 1813 and divorced again in 1818. The couple had two children:

  • Wilhelmine (1797–1878) ⚭ NN Brunst, Herr von Born
  • Oskar (1814–1885) ⚭ Marie Charlotte Rosalie von Wedel (1813–1861)

He then married Sabine, née von Mellenthin (1784–1861), divorced Lupold von der Osten (1776–1823). Her son Louis Arthur von Briesen (1819-1896) became a Prussian lieutenant general .
